Project Scoping Customers will often not have
the necessary skills in-house to fully define the
scope of an IT project.
Soft Techs’ skilled staff are able to draw
on the wide experience of their peers from all
corners of the world to document the finest detail
of your implementation. The scope provides any
easy to understand road map for all participants
to follow, highlighting what is and what is not
included in the project.
This is the foundation document for any implementation
and although customers feel their business is similar
to others, in many respect the peculiarities are
what provide the challenge in any IT implementation.
It is only by understanding these peculiarities
that Soft Tech can take on significant projects
and work with the customer to deliver a solution.
Database design and Development
Soft Techs’ professional services team will
assist a customers’ own staff on a project
or alternatively work almost entirely on the database
development with the customer acting as a guide.
A team of dedicated staff work in this area utilising
the latest tools to gain access to Soft Techs’ knowledge
bases irrespective of location.
Our consultants have implemented systems at numerous
sites, so customers gain from their experience
solving industry problems, often bringing new insights
to their business. We are often asked for an indication of how
long it will take to develop a database and get
the application running. Of course this is very
dependent on he resources that the Customer can
apply to the task and the depth and breadth of
their business. In any event a Project Scope
is an essential element of the database development,
even if you intend to undertake the database
development in house.
Report Writing
Soft Techs’ applications use either Crystal
or Quick Reports (embedded) to provide user reports.
To assist users our Professional Services staff
can create reports to your specification, or
conduct focused training courses. In some instance
the customers’ staff are more at home with
Microsoft Excel as a means to manipulate, format
and report on data. In these circumstances the
required data from V6 or Saturn is exported in
a format ready for importation to Excel.
Macro design and development
The V6 configurator is capable
of utilising a custom designed GUI. The GUI is
written in Visual
Basic (or similar) or Soft Techs’ own macro
scripting language. The Professional Services
team has the skills to design and develop these
UI screens so that users of the V6 application
closely follow their customary business process.
The macro language allows V6s’ native commands
to be invoked by a user in a predetermined manner,
this may be as simple as a database enquiry or
enabling complex engineer to order products to
be built within constrained business rules. Pictorial
pickers may be used to replace product codes
with user friendly symbols and logos, the scope
is limitless.
Interfaces and Integration
To facilitate integration
between Soft Techs’ applications
and the vast array of ERP and Business systems
the Professional Services team have several tools
at their disposal.
- In-built macro language. Within
V6 applications it is possible to create
Visual Basic like scripts
to create output text files and if desired
transfer data to other database.
- Script driven Interface
engine. Using ODBC sql scripts read information
out of one database
and into another. The Interface engine
can be used as a persistent integration layer
between
any two ODBC databases, not just Soft Tech
application
databases.
- Custom designed and developed interfaces
can be created to achieve very high levels
of integration
and automation.
Interfaces
to SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Visual Manufacturing,
Syteline, Made to Manage, Friedman, Macola, and
Kewill, have been developed and are in use by Soft
Tech customers. |
